Plusnet is a British internet service provider founded in 1997 in Sheffield (originally emerging from Force9/Choice Peripherals) and grew into a national broadband and ISP brand serving residential and business customers across the UK. (en.wikipedia.org)
The company was acquired by BT Group in January 2007 and continued to operate as a separate brand; in 2018 Plusnet was brought into BT Group’s BT Consumer division. Today Plusnet is positioned as one of BT Group’s consumer-facing brands offering broadband (ADSL/VDSL and full-fibre) and previously offered landline and mobile services before winding down some of those offerings. Plusnet’s mobile arm (Plusnet Mobile, an MVNO) was closed down in 2023–2024 and customers were migrated or advised to switch to other providers; the brand remains primarily a UK broadband provider under BT Group’s ownership. As a service brand, its ‘manufacturing’ and operations are UK-based and delivered over BT/EE network infrastructure and wholesale arrangements. (theguardian.com)
