The TUC recipe and brand originated in Belgium in the late 1950s. The brand later became associated with the French LU biscuit family through corporate acquisitions and was subsequently transferred through later food-industry consolidations that ultimately placed the brand under the ownership of Mondelēz International.

TUC crackers are manufactured in multiple countries. Europe—particularly Belgium—has historically been a primary production hub for the brand (large LU/Mondelēz biscuit facilities serve many markets), but production also takes place under license or via regional manufacturing partners in other countries depending on market and distribution needs.
