Redmi smartphone

Redmi is a prominent sub-brand of the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi. Originally launched in 2013 as a budget-friendly line of smartphones, it evolved into an independent sub-brand in 2019 to better distinguish its entry-level and mid-range offerings from Xiaomi's flagship products. This strategy has allowed the brand to dominate the value-for-money segment globally.

While the brand is deeply rooted in China, its manufacturing footprint is massive and diversified. Most Redmi devices are manufactured in China, particularly in the Guangdong province. However, a significant portion of production—especially for the South Asian market—takes place in India through partnerships with contract manufacturers like Foxconn and DBG. There are also assembly operations in countries like Vietnam to optimize regional logistics and meet local demand. Ownership remains entirely under Xiaomi Corporation, which is headquartered in Beijing and traded publicly on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
