Campo Viejo — origin, production and ownership

Campo Viejo is a Rioja wine brand originally founded in 1959 in La Rioja, Spain, by winemakers José Ortigüela and Bernardo Beristain and marketed under Bodegas Campo Viejo. The bottle shown is a Campo Viejo Rioja Tempranillo vintage 2022 — a red wine made primarily from Tempranillo grapes grown across Rioja (Rioja Alta, Rioja Baja and Rioja Alavesa) and produced at Campo Viejo’s winery near Logroño, Spain.

Manufacturing

Campo Viejo wines are produced in Spain (La Rioja). The brand sources grapes from its Rioja vineyards and vinifies and bottles in its Spanish facilities, so the product is manufactured in Spain.

Brand ownership history and current owner

Campo Viejo was part of Pernod Ricard’s wine portfolio for many years. In 2024 Pernod Ricard agreed to sell its international strategic wine brands and the transaction was completed in 2025 when Australian Wine Holdco Limited (AWL), owner of Accolade Wines, acquired the portfolio. The acquisition created a new specialist wine company operating as Vinarchy, which now holds and operates Campo Viejo alongside other global wine brands. Vinarchy/AWL (Australia) is therefore the ultimate owner of Campo Viejo as of 2025 and into 2026.
