Becel Omega 3 margarine

Becel is a well-known brand of margarine and plant-based spreads, originally developed by Unilever in the 1960s with a focus on heart health through high levels of polyunsaturated fats. The brand name itself is derived from the acronym BCL (Blood Cholesterol Lowering). While it was a cornerstone of Unilever's food portfolio for decades, the brand was part of a major strategic shift in 2018.

Direct ownership transitioned to Upfield, a global leader in plant-based nutrition, after Unilever sold its spreads division to the investment firm KKR. Today, Becel products sold in the Nordic markets are primarily manufactured at Upfield's facility in Helsingborg, Sweden. The brand remains a staple in European kitchens, marketed under different names such as Flora in the United Kingdom or Fruit d'Or in France.
