Clearasil was developed in the United States in 1950 by Ivan Combe (Combe Incorporated) as one of the first acne treatments specifically marketed toward younger skin. Over the decades the brand changed hands through larger consumer-health portfolios (notably Richardson‑Vicks and Procter & Gamble) and moved into Boots’ healthcare portfolio before becoming part of Reckitt’s brand family.
Clearasil products are manufactured and packaged in multiple countries. Reckitt (the current owner) uses a global supply and production network with many regional manufacturing sites, so Clearasil consumer SKUs for different markets are commonly produced in local or regional Reckitt production facilities rather than a single country of manufacture.
The Clearasil brand is ultimately owned and managed by Reckitt (formerly Reckitt Benckiser). In the United States the Clearasil site and brand operations are run under RB Health (US) LLC, a Reckitt subsidiary. Reckitt is headquartered in the United Kingdom and remains the global steward of Clearasil’s trademarks, product portfolio and global distribution.
