PureGym

PureGym is a leading global gym operator, founded in the United Kingdom in 2009 by entrepreneur Peter Roberts. It pioneered the model for affordable, flexible, high-quality fitness clubs and has become the market leader in the UK. The company operates corporate-owned gyms in the UK, Denmark, Switzerland, and the USA (under the Pure Fitness brand), and has franchise operations in Saudi Arabia and the UAE (under the PureGym Arabia brand). In 2017, Leonard Green & Partners acquired a majority stake in PureGym, and in 2021, KKR became a significant minority investor. As of June 2024, PureGym had 387 gyms in the UK, 161 in Denmark, 45 in Switzerland, 3 in the USA, and 20 franchise gyms in the Middle East. In December 2024, PureGym acquired Blink Fitness, a chain of gyms in New York and New Jersey, for $121 million, further expanding its presence in the US market. The company is jointly owned by Leonard Green & Partners, KKR, and over 100 members of the Group’s management team.
