Plopp is a classic Swedish chocolate bar introduced in 1949 by Cloetta AB, a prominent Swedish confectionery company. The bar features smooth milk chocolate filled with a soft, flowing toffee center, offering a delightful combination of flavors and textures. Over the years, Plopp has expanded its product line to include various flavors and formats, such as Plopp Lakrits (liquorice) in the early 1980s, Plopp Currant in 2004, Plopp Caffe Latte in 2006, Plopp Tutti Frutti in 2008, and Plopp Saltlakrits (salty liquorice) in 2009. In 2018, Cloetta introduced Plopp milk chocolate tablets in four flavors, combining Plopp's signature chocolate with pieces from other popular Cloetta products like Djungelvrål, Gott & Blandat, and Kexchoklad. The production of Plopp bars is primarily based in Sweden, with Cloetta's factory in Ljungsbro being a key manufacturing site. However, Cloetta's extensive operations across the Nordic region and other countries suggest that Plopp may also be produced in other locations to meet regional demand. As of 2026, Cloetta AB continues to own and operate the Plopp brand, maintaining its status as a beloved confectionery in Sweden and beyond.
