Toblerone Chocolate

Toblerone is a world-renowned Swiss chocolate brand famous for its distinctive triangular shape and its unique recipe featuring honey and almond nougat. Founded in 1908 in Bern, Switzerland, by Theodor Tobler and his cousin Emil Baumann, the brand quickly became a symbol of Swiss confectionery excellence. The name itself is a portmanteau of 'Tobler' and 'torrone,' the Italian word for honey-and-almond nougat.

Throughout its history, the brand has undergone several changes in ownership. It merged with Suchard in 1970, later becoming part of Jacobs Suchard, which was acquired by Kraft Foods in 1990. In 2012, Kraft Foods split into two companies, and Toblerone became a marquee brand under the snacks-focused multinational Mondelēz International.

In recent years, Toblerone's manufacturing landscape has evolved. While it was produced exclusively in Bern for over a century, Mondelēz expanded production to Bratislava, Slovakia, in 2023 to meet global demand. Despite this shift, the headquarters in Bern remains the 'Center of Excellence' for the brand. Following a significant $83 million investment inaugurated in 2026, the Bern facility continues to produce approximately 90% of the world's Toblerone supply, maintaining its status as the heart of the brand's production and innovation.
