Le Ragose is an Italian winery located in the Valpolicella region, renowned for producing high-quality red wines, particularly the Valpolicella Ripasso. The Ripasso method involves re-fermenting Valpolicella wine on the lees of Amarone, imparting additional complexity and structure to the wine. The winery's vineyards are situated at elevations of 300 meters above sea level with a south-west exposure, and the soil composition includes clay laced with magnesium, calcium, and iron on a tuffaceous subsoil, which drains easily. The vineyards range from newly planted to as old as 40 years, with 3,200 plants per hectare. The wines are aged in large Slavonian oak botti, sometimes supplemented with French Allier or Tronçais tonneaux for subtle finesse. The estate is managed by Paolo and Marco Galli, who continue the legacy of Marta Galli, recognized in 1990 as 'Wine Producer of the World'. In 2023, González Byass, a Spanish company specializing in wines and spirits, acquired Le Ragose, integrating it into its diverse portfolio of wine brands. González Byass is headquartered in Spain and has a global presence in the wine industry.
