KiMs is an iconic Danish snack brand that has become a staple of 'hygge' (coziness) in Scandinavian households. The brand's history began in 1961 when the Odense Marcipanfabrik in Denmark sought to create a year-round product to complement their seasonal marzipan sales. Initially registered as 'Kim,' the name was changed to 'KiMs' in 1965 to avoid a trademark conflict with a German cigarette brand. The brand rose to massive popularity in Denmark during the 1990s through its creative storytelling commercials featuring the character 'Jørgen.'

Today, KiMs is a dominant force in the Nordic snack market. While the brand remains deeply rooted in Danish culture, its ownership has transitioned through several mergers and acquisitions. It is currently a core part of the Orkla Group, a Norwegian conglomerate. Manufacturing is primarily concentrated in two locations: a major factory in Søndersø, Denmark, which serves the Danish market, and another in Skreia, Norway, which produces snacks for Norwegian consumers. The brand also distributes products throughout Northern Europe and the Baltics.
