Ortonese Sangiovese Merlot 2023 is a red wine produced by Caldora Vini, an Italian winery located in the coastal town of Ortona, in the Abruzzo region. Established in 1999 as part of the 'Progetto Qualità' (Quality Project) by the cooperative Cantina Sociale di Ortona, the winery focuses on producing high-quality wines by reducing yields and increasing grape concentration. They work with over 700 farmers, cultivating approximately 200 hectares of vineyards selected for their superior terroirs. The wine is a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, offering a medium-bodied profile with intense ruby red color and fruity flavors of cherry, prune, and vanilla. It is well-balanced and ready to drink, making it suitable for pairing with a variety of dishes, including salami, first courses, red meat, and cheese. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18°C.
