BRIO is a Swedish toy company founded in 1884 by Ivar Bengtsson in the town of Boalt, Scania. The name 'BRIO' is an acronym for 'BRöderna Ivarsson i Osby' (Ivarsson Brothers in Osby). Initially, BRIO produced wooden toys, with its wooden toy trains becoming particularly popular in Europe since 1958. In 2006, the company moved its headquarters to Malmö, Scania. In 2015, BRIO was acquired by Ravensburger AG, a German game and toy company known for its puzzles, games, and toys. Today, BRIO continues to produce high-quality wooden toys, including its iconic wooden toy trains, which are sold worldwide.
