Arla Kærgården is a flagship spreadable butter brand originally launched in Denmark in 1990 as Kærgården. The product revolutionized the dairy aisle by blending traditional butter with rapeseed oil to ensure the spread remains soft and usable directly from the refrigerator.

Since 2014, the production for the German market has been largely centralized at Arla's facility in Pronsfeld, Germany, which is one of the largest dairy production sites in the world. However, the Danish market is still served by the original dairy in Holstebro, Denmark.

The brand is owned by Arla Foods, a massive international cooperative owned by thousands of dairy farmers across several European countries, including Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and the UK. This cooperative structure means that the ultimate ownership lies with the farmers themselves, ensuring profits are reinvested back into the farming community.
