It was originally launched by Mjölkcentralen (which later became Arla Foods) and was famously invented at the dairy in Järlåsa. The product is widely recognized for its distinctive glass bottle and its association with Swedish hot dog stands.

While the brand holds a deep-rooted Swedish heritage, its manufacturing was eventually relocated. Today, Pucko is produced by Arla Foods, a large dairy cooperative. Most of the production takes place in Denmark at Arla's specialized facilities, though it remains a primary brand for the Swedish market. The brand's ownership has transitioned through the evolution of regional dairy cooperatives into the international powerhouse that is Arla Foods amba.
