Salomon is a historic brand specializing in outdoor sports equipment and footwear. Founded in the French Alps in 1947 by François Salomon, his wife, and son Georges, the company initially focused on ski edges and bindings before expanding into mountain sports gear and running shoes. The Speedcross series is one of their most iconic trail running lines, known for its aggressive grip and performance in technical terrain.

While the brand originated in France, manufacturing for its footwear is predominantly located in Vietnam and China to maintain global supply. Ownership of Salomon has transitioned several times: it was acquired by Adidas in 1997, then sold to Amer Sports in 2005. Today, Amer Sports is the parent company, which is itself controlled by a consortium led by the Chinese sportswear giant Anta Sports. Despite this international corporate structure, Salomon's design and engineering core remains centered in Annecy, France.
