Chocomel is a Dutch brand of chocolate-flavoured milk, produced by FrieslandCampina in Aalter, Belgium. The brand's trademark is owned by FrieslandCampina. Chocomel was created in 1932 by Martien Breij in the Netherlands. After his death in 1945, his wife sold the shares to Numico, which launched large-scale production. Chocomel is available in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France (under the name Cécémel), Luxembourg, and the United Kingdom. The slogan of the drink is 'De enige échte' in Dutch, meaning 'The only real one' in English. Three varieties of Chocomel exist: mocha, light, and semi-skimmed; as well as a Cécémel variant: dark. Chocomel is also available in doses for the Philips Senseo coffee machines. In Belgium, the name Chocomel could not be registered, so it became Cécémel. Cécémel became Chocomel in France in 2022 as part of FrieslandCampina's decision to harmonize the brand name internationally. Despite this name change, the recipe remains the same, and the taste of the drink remains unchanged.
