Magnesia DAK is a long-standing Danish medicinal brand providing magnesium oxide tablets, used primarily as a laxative or to treat stomach acid. The 'DAK' suffix stands for Danske Apotekeres Kontrol-laboratorium, which was established by Danish pharmacists to ensure high-quality standards for medications sold in Denmark.
Historically, the brand was part of Nycomed and later acquired by the Japanese pharmaceutical giant Takeda as part of their global expansion. For a long period, Takeda operated the manufacturing facilities in Roskilde, Denmark, where this product is produced. In recent years, Takeda divested its portfolio of select over-the-counter and consumer health products in Europe to Orifarm Group, a Danish pharmaceutical company. This transition brought the iconic Magnesia DAK brand back under Danish ownership, while maintaining its manufacturing roots in Denmark.
