MediaMarkt

MediaMarkt is a German multinational chain of consumer electronics stores, founded in 1979 by Leopold Stiefel, Walter Gunz, and Erich Kellerhals. The first store opened in Munich, Germany. Over the years, MediaMarkt expanded its presence across Europe, operating in countries such as Austria, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, and Hungary. In 2017, MediaMarkt became part of Ceconomy AG, a leading European consumer electronics retailer. In April 2023, Groupe Fnac Darty, a French multinational retail company, acquired MediaMarkt, making it a subsidiary of Groupe Fnac Darty. As of January 2026, MediaMarkt continues to operate under its brand name, offering a wide range of consumer electronics and household appliances across its European locations.
