Wall's is one of the world's most recognizable ice cream brands, originating from a butcher shop established by Richard Wall in London in 1786. The brand's pivot to ice cream was a strategic move by the founder's grandson, Thomas Wall II, in the early 1900s to avoid seasonal layoffs of staff during the summer months when meat sales typically declined. Although the First World War delayed these plans, ice cream production officially began in 1922 in Acton, London.

Today, Wall's is a core member of the 'Heartbrand' family, a global group of ice cream businesses that share the iconic red-and-white heart logo but often operate under different local names, such as Streets in Australia or Langnese in Germany. Manufacturing is decentralized to serve local markets efficiently, with large production facilities located in Gloucester, UK, and various other sites across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

In early 2024, the parent company Unilever announced a major restructuring plan to divest its entire ice cream division. This transformation, expected to be finalized by late 2025 or 2026, aims to establish the ice cream business as a standalone entity, temporarily referred to as the Magnum Ice Cream Company or similar, to optimize focus and growth within the competitive frozen dessert sector.
