Intrepid is a broad-spectrum insecticide developed by BASF SE, a German multinational chemical company. It is primarily used in agriculture to control a wide range of insect pests, including Diamondback Moth (DBM) and mites, particularly in crops like chili and cabbage. Intrepid belongs to the diacylhydrazine class of insecticides and functions by mimicking the action of the molting hormone in insects, disrupting their energy production and leading to their death. This mode of action makes it effective against various lepidopterous insects, such as navel orangeworm, peach twig borer, leafrollers, loopers, armyworms, and citrus leafminer. The insecticide is applied through contact and stomach action and also possesses systemic properties, allowing it to control pests feeding on the underside of leaves. Intrepid is available in various formulations and packaging sizes, catering to different agricultural needs. BASF SE, headquartered in Ludwigshafen, Germany, is the ultimate owner of the Intrepid brand, and there are no known subsidiaries owning the brand locally.
