Mahou Clásica is a hallmark of Spanish brewing history, originating in Madrid in 1890. Founded by the children of Casimiro Mahou, a French entrepreneur who settled in Spain, the brand released its first industrial beer in 1891. Over more than a century, it has grown from a local Madrid favorite into a global icon, synonymous with the vibrant tapas culture of the Spanish capital.

The brand is currently owned by Mahou San Miguel, the largest brewing group in Spain. This group was formed in 2000 when Mahou acquired the San Miguel brand from the Danone Group, creating a 100% Spanish-owned family company. Today, production is centered primarily in large-scale facilities such as the Alovera brewery in Guadalajara, Spain—one of Europe's most modern plants—though the company also operates production centers in India and the United States to support its international expansion.
