Connemara Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey

Connemara is a unique brand in the world of Irish spirits, known for being one of the few peated single malt Irish whiskies. Inspired by the landscape of western Ireland, it combines the traditional Irish practice of triple distillation with the smoky profile typically associated with Islay Scotch.

The brand was launched in the 1990s by the Cooley Distillery, an independent distillery founded by John Teeling in 1987. Cooley was credited with breaking the monopoly held by Irish Distillers at the time and reviving historic styles of whiskey that had largely disappeared from the market.

In 2011, Cooley Distillery, including the Connemara brand, was acquired by Beam Inc. Following the 2014 merger of Beam and Suntory, the brand became part of the Beam Suntory portfolio. Today, it is owned and managed by Suntory Global Spirits, a Japanese multinational corporation that is one of the world's largest producers of distilled beverages.
