Instapaper

Instapaper is a read-it-later service that allows users to save web content for offline reading on various devices. Founded in 2008 by Marco Arment, it gained popularity for its simplicity and effectiveness. In April 2013, Arment sold a majority stake to Betaworks, which led to further development and redesign of the service. In August 2016, Pinterest acquired Instapaper, integrating it into their platform. However, in July 2018, ownership was transferred from Pinterest to Instant Paper, Inc., a new company formed by the original Instapaper team, marking its return to independent operation. As of December 2025, Instapaper continues to operate under Instant Paper, Inc., offering features like AI-powered text-to-speech and integration with e-reader devices such as Kobo. The service remains headquartered in the United States, with its development team distributed across multiple countries.
