Capri-Sun is one of the world's most recognizable juice brands, famously packaged in its iconic stand-up pouch with a straw. The brand was originally launched in 1969 in West Germany under the name 'Capri-Sonne'. It was developed by Rudolf Wild, who founded his ingredients company, Wild Flavors, in Heidelberg back in 1931. The name 'Capri' was inspired by the Italian island, a popular vacation spot for Germans at the time.
Today, the brand is owned by Capri Sun Group Holding AG, which is headquartered in Zug, Switzerland. While the brand remains under the private ownership of the Wild family (led by Dr. Hans-Peter Wild), it is produced and distributed globally through a network of regional partners and local manufacturing facilities. In the United Kingdom and parts of Europe, production is often managed by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, while in North America, Kraft Heinz is the long-term licensee. This multi-country production model ensures the product is made close to its 100+ global markets, maintaining the brand's 'made with sunshine' philosophy through localized bottling.
