The brand was founded in the Czech Republic in 2003 by Gevorg Avetisyan and his sister, who brought their ancestral recipes from Armenia to Frýdek-Místek. The brand is famous for its honey cakes and nuggets made using a unique natural preservation method that gives them a long shelf life without chemical additives.

All Marlenka products are manufactured in a modern production facility in Frýdek-Místek, Czech Republic. The company remains a family-owned business under the original founder, operating as Marlenka international s.r.o. Since its inception, the brand has grown to become a major exporter, sending its honey-based treats to dozens of countries worldwide while maintaining its headquarters and primary production base in the Moravian-Silesian Region.
