Pasta Dentífrica Couto is one of Portugal's most iconic and heritage-rich personal care brands. Originally created in 1932 by Alberto Ferreira Couto in Porto, the product was formulated to prevent gingivitis and mouth infections. Known for its distinct yellow packaging and retro aesthetic, the brand has remained remarkably consistent in its formulation and design for nearly a century.

Manufacturing takes place exclusively in Portugal, specifically at the Couto factory in Vila Nova de Gaia. Unlike many traditional brands that have been acquired by large multinational conglomerates, Couto remains a family-run enterprise under the management of the founder's descendants. This localized production and management have helped the brand maintain its status as a symbol of Portuguese national identity and quality craftsmanship.
