In February 2008, Apollo Management, a New York-based private equity firm, acquired the cruise line from Carlson Companies for $1 billion. Following the acquisition, the cruise line was rebranded as Regent Seven Seas Cruises. In September 2014, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. purchased Prestige Cruise Holdings, the parent company of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, for $3.025 billion, making Regent Seven Seas Cruises a wholly owned subsidiary of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. is headquartered in Miami, Florida, and operates three cruise brands: Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. The cruise line's ships are built in various countries, including Italy and France, and visit ports worldwide, reflecting its global operations.
