Bowers & Wilkins, commonly known as B&W, is a British company founded in 1966 by John Bowers and Roy Wilkins in Worthing, West Sussex, England. The company specializes in high-quality audio equipment, including loudspeakers and headphones. Over the years, B&W has been recognized for its innovative designs and premium sound quality. In October 2020, Bowers & Wilkins was acquired by Sound United LLC, a holding company that owns several other audio brands. In September 2022, Sound United was acquired by Masimo, a global medical technology company. Subsequently, in May 2025, Masimo announced the sale of its consumer audio division, including Bowers & Wilkins, to Harman International Industries, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, for $350 million. This acquisition aims to strengthen Samsung's position in the audio industry by integrating high-end audio technology into its product offerings. The Bowers & Wilkins 801 Abbey Road Limited Edition speakers are a testament to the brand's legacy, featuring a vintage dark walnut finish inspired by Paul McCartney’s piano in Studio Three and a red leather top referencing studio equipment used by Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. These speakers are limited to 144 pairs and are priced at $70,000/£55,000, reflecting their exclusivity and the brand's commitment to delivering exceptional audio experiences.
