Boursin is a brand of soft, creamy cheese that was first created in 1957 by French cheesemaker François Boursin in Normandy, France. The original flavor, Garlic & Fine Herbs, was inspired by a traditional French dish called fromage frais, which combines fresh cheese with herbs. The brand gained popularity in France and expanded internationally. In 1990, Unilever acquired the Boursin brand, and in November 2007, it was sold to Groupe Bel for €400 million. Today, Boursin cheese is produced in multiple countries, including France and Canada, and is available in various flavors. The brand is owned by Groupe Bel, a French multinational company specializing in dairy products, which also owns other well-known brands such as The Laughing Cow and Babybel.
