Brand History and Evolution

Cube was founded in 1993 by Marcus Pürner, starting in a small corner of his father's furniture factory in Waldershof, Germany. Since its inception, the brand has grown from a local operation into one of the largest bicycle manufacturers in Europe, becoming a staple in both professional racing and enthusiast markets. Known for engineering precision and high-value specifications, Cube covers a vast range of cycling disciplines, including mountain bikes, high-performance road racers, and urban e-bikes.

Manufacturing and Operational Model

While Cube sources many of its frames and technical components from specialized manufacturers in East Asia—notably Taiwan and Cambodia—the heart of its operation remains in Waldershof. Cube operates a massive state-of-the-art production and assembly facility (the Bike Production Factory) where over 4,500 bikes are assembled daily. This localized assembly allows the brand to maintain strict German quality control standards and rapid logistical response times across the European continent.

Ownership and Global Presence

Unlike many of its competitors that have been acquired by large multi-brand conglomerates, Cube has maintained a level of independence. The brand is managed by Pending System GmbH & Co. KG, which remains headquartered at the original founding site in Bavaria. This stability has allowed Cube to focus on long-term technological innovation, such as their advanced carbon fiber layering and proprietary e-bike drive system integrations, while expanding their distribution network to over 60 countries worldwide.
