Häagen-Dazs Salted Caramel

Häagen-Dazs is a premium ice cream brand founded in 1960 by Reuben and Rose Mattus in Brooklyn, New York. Despite the Scandinavian-sounding name, which was invented to suggest an aura of old-world craftsmanship, the brand is entirely American in origin.

The brand has a unique ownership structure due to historical acquisitions and joint ventures. In the United States and Canada, the brand is licensed to Froneri, a joint venture between Nestlé and PAI Partners. However, for the rest of the world, including Europe and the Swedish market, the brand is owned by the American multinational General Mills. Most products sold in Europe are manufactured at the General Mills facility in Arras, France, which serves over 80 countries worldwide.
