Almdudler is a iconic Austrian herbal soft drink, often referred to as the 'national drink of Austria.' It was first created in 1957 by Erwin Klein in Vienna. The name is derived from the phrase 'auf der Alm dudeln,' which translates to yodeling in the alpine pastures.

The beverage is distinguished by its unique blend of 32 different alpine herbs, including lemon balm, sage, gentian, and elderflower, combined with mineral water and beet sugar. Since its inception, the brand has maintained its identity as a family-owned enterprise, resisting acquisition by larger multinational beverage corporations.

While production primarily takes place in its home country of Austria to maintain flavor authenticity and proximity to its alpine roots, Almdudler is exported globally and produced under license in a few neighboring European countries. The ownership remains firmly with the Klein family under the Almdudler-Limonade A. & S. Klein GmbH & Co KG entity.
