Ur-Krostitzer is a German beer brand originating from the village of Krostitz, near Leipzig. The brewery was granted brewing privileges in 1534 by Duke Georg von Sachsen to Hans Wahl on the Crostitz manor. The brand's trademark features a portrait of Swedish King Gustav II Adolf, who, according to legend, stopped by Krostitz in 1632 during the Thirty Years' War and was served a refreshing draught by the local master brewer. In appreciation, the king allegedly gave the master brewer a golden ring. Today, Ur-Krostitzer is known for its finely brewed Pilsner with a strong hoppy note and a genuine dark beer, embodying a tradition of nearly 500 years. The brewery is currently owned by Radeberger Gruppe KG, a German beverage company headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, which is part of the Oetker Group, a diversified conglomerate with interests in various industries, including food, beverages, and logistics.
