Champis soft drink

Champis is one of Sweden's oldest and most iconic carbonated soft drinks, first introduced in 1910 by Robert Roberts in Örebro. Originally marketed as 'Champagneläskedryck' (Champagne soft drink), it officially adopted the name Champis in 1918, a name that had already become popular in common parlance. Its unique flavor profile is derived from a secret blend of apple and grape extracts, designed to mimic the sophisticated taste of sparkling wine or champagne.

The production of the drink involves a two-step process: the secret flavor extract is still produced by the original family company, Roberts AB, located in Örebro. This extract is then sold to authorized breweries that handle carbonation, bottling, and distribution. While multiple breweries have produced Champis over the decades, Spendrups Bryggeri currently serves as the primary manufacturer and brand owner. To this day, the exact recipe remains a closely guarded family secret, known only to a few individuals within the Roberts lineage.
