SB12 is a specialized oral care brand developed by researchers at the University of Oslo in Norway. It is widely known for its dual-action formula that targets bad breath (halitosis) by neutralizing the causes rather than just masking them with flavor.
While the brand has its roots in Nordic research, the manufacturing of the SB12 toothpaste and mouthwash range typically takes place in Italy. The brand was acquired by the global pharmaceutical giant Mylan in 2014, which subsequently merged with Upjohn (a division of Pfizer) in 2020 to form the current parent company, Viatris.
Today, SB12 remains a premium segment brand within the Viatris portfolio, distributed globally through pharmacies and retail stores. It is often marketed under the brand name CB12 in several international markets, maintaining the same clinical formula for breath protection.
