Fila is a sportswear brand that originated in 1911 in Biella, Italy, founded by Ettore and Giansevero Fila. Initially, the company produced clothing for the Italian Alps, primarily underwear. In the 1970s, Fila expanded into sportswear, gaining prominence through endorsements with athletes like tennis player Björn Borg.

In 2003, the original Italian owner, Holding di Partecipazioni, sold the company to U.S.-based hedge fund Cerberus Capital Management. Cerberus owned Fila through holding company Sports Brands International, which operated all Fila businesses worldwide, except for Fila Korea, which operated the brand under license.

In January 2007, Fila Korea Ltd., a South Korean company, acquired the global Fila brand and all its international subsidiaries, making it the largest sportswear company in South Korea. Fila Korea Ltd. is listed on the Korea Exchange.

In 2009, Anta Sports acquired the rights to the Fila brand in China, Hong Kong, and Macao from Belle International. Fila Korea Ltd. still owned a 15% stake in the joint venture company "Full Prospect."

In May 2011, Fila Korea Ltd. acquired global golf equipment maker Acushnet Company, becoming the new owner of leading golf brands such as Titleist for $1.23 billion.

In October 2019, South Korean boy group BTS became the global brand ambassadors of Fila.

Fila's blend of heritage sportswear, versatile fashion, and global appeal has made it a beloved brand for those who appreciate timeless designs that can be worn both on and off the court or track.
