Starbucks Caramel Macchiato Chilled Coffee

Starbucks Chilled Coffee products, such as this Caramel Macchiato, are the result of a long-standing strategic partnership between the American coffeehouse giant Starbucks and the European dairy cooperative Arla Foods. While the Starbucks brand originated in Seattle, USA, in 1971, the ready-to-drink (RTD) chilled coffee line sold in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa is manufactured under license by Arla Foods.

Production typically takes place at specialized dairy facilities in Denmark, using 100% Arabica coffee beans and milk from Arla's farmer-owners. Ownership is split between the retail intellectual property owned by Starbucks Coffee Company and the manufacturing/distribution rights managed through global partnerships. In 2018, Nestlé also acquired the global rights to market Starbucks consumer and foodservice products outside of Starbucks coffee shops, though Arla continues to handle the chilled cup production in many regions.
