Telepizza is a Spanish multinational pizza restaurant chain founded in 1987 by Leopoldo Fernández Pujals in Madrid. It has grown to become one of the largest non-American pizza chains globally, with a significant presence in Spain and various Latin American countries. In 2018, Telepizza entered into a strategic alliance with Pizza Hut to accelerate growth across regions including Spain, Portugal, Latin America (excluding Brazil), the Caribbean, and Switzerland. This partnership aimed to double Pizza Hut's footprint in these areas and positioned Telepizza as Pizza Hut's largest master franchisee globally by unit count. However, in June 2024, Yum! Brands, the parent company of Pizza Hut, transferred certain trademark-related rights of the Jeno's and Telepizza brands in Chile and Colombia to Food Delivery Brands, S.A., a Spanish company specializing in pizza restaurant operations. This move resulted in approximately 120 Jeno's and Telepizza branded restaurant units being removed from Pizza Hut’s global unit count. Despite these changes, Telepizza continues to operate under its own brand in Spain and other markets, maintaining its status as a leading pizza chain in the regions it serves.
