PEZ is a world-renowned confectionery brand, famous for its unique mechanical dispensers and small rectangular candy bricks. The brand was invented in 1927 in Vienna, Austria, by Eduard Haas III. Originally marketed as a peppermint breath mint for adults (the name PEZ is derived from the German word for peppermint: Pfefferminz), it evolved into a beloved children's treat with the introduction of character-themed dispensers in the 1950s.

The brand remains under the ownership of the founding family and operates as PEZ AG, headquartered in Traun, Austria. Manufacturing is primarily concentrated in Europe, with a major production facility in Hungary and another in the United States to serve the North American market.
