Reebok is a renowned athletic footwear and apparel brand that originated in the United Kingdom. Established in 1958 as a companion company to J.W. Foster and Sons, Reebok quickly gained prominence in the sportswear industry. In 1979, American businessman Paul Fireman recognized Reebok's potential and secured the rights to distribute the brand in the United States, leading to significant growth in the American market. Reebok's innovative designs, such as the Reebok Freestyle fitness sneaker introduced in 1982, revolutionized the fitness footwear segment. Over the years, the brand has been associated with various sports and fitness activities, including basketball, running, and CrossFit. In 2005, Reebok was acquired by German sporting goods company Adidas, becoming a subsidiary. However, in 2021, Adidas sold Reebok to Authentic Brands Group, a U.S.-based brand management company. Under Authentic Brands Group's ownership, Reebok continues to operate as a distinct brand, focusing on its heritage and expanding its presence in the global athletic footwear and apparel market.
