Ray-Ban is a renowned brand of luxury sunglasses and eyeglasses, established in 1936 by Bausch & Lomb in the United States. The brand is best known for its iconic Aviator and Wayfarer models. In 1999, Bausch & Lomb sold Ray-Ban to the Italian eyewear conglomerate Luxottica Group for $640 million. In 2018, Luxottica merged with Essilor, a French ophthalmic optics company, forming EssilorLuxottica, which now owns Ray-Ban. Ray-Ban sunglasses are primarily manufactured in Italy, with some models produced in other locations. The Aviator model, characterized by its thin metal frame and teardrop-shaped lenses, was originally designed for pilots in the 1930s and has since become a timeless fashion accessory.
