Sinalco is a historic German beverage brand, famously known as the oldest soft drink brand in continental Europe. Founded in 1902 by the chemist Friedrich Eduard Bilz and industrialist Franz Hartmann, it was originally launched as 'Bilz-Brause' before being renamed Sinalco in 1905 (from the Latin 'sine alcohole' - without alcohol).
The brand has a rich history of international expansion and is recognized worldwide by its iconic red circle logo. Ownership changed hands several times over the decades; since 1994, it has been owned by the Hövelmann family, specifically through the Deutsche Sinalco GmbH Markengetränke & Co. KG.
Manufacturing takes place primarily in Germany under the family-owned Hövelmann beverage group, though the brand operates a successful franchising system, meaning local partners bottle the drink in numerous countries around the globe using German-supplied concentrates.
