Chesterfield Cigarettes

Chesterfield is one of the most recognizable cigarette brands in the world, originally introduced in 1873 by the Drummond Tobacco Company of St. Louis, Missouri. The brand was named after Chesterfield County, Virginia, and quickly became a staple in the American tobacco market. Throughout the 20th century, it was known for its innovative marketing and associations with major celebrities and athletes, helping it become a top-tier brand in the United States and abroad.

Today, the brand's production and distribution are divided globally. Outside of the United States, Chesterfield is owned and manufactured by Philip Morris International (PMI). Domestically, within the U.S. market, the trademark is owned by Altria Group (formerly Philip Morris Companies Inc.) and manufactured by its subsidiary, Philip Morris USA. Because it is sold and produced in numerous international markets including Europe, Asia, and Latin America, manufacturing takes place in various global facilities to serve local and regional demands.

Following the spin-off of Philip Morris International from Altria in 2008, the brand exists under two distinct corporate structures depending on the geography: Altria maintains the legacy and production for U.S. consumers, while PMI handles the brand's extensive global footprint.
