Schleich is a German company founded in 1935 by Friedrich Schleich, initially producing plastic parts. In the 1950s, it became known for its bendable plastic figurines, and in the 1960s, it expanded into licensed toy figurines, including characters like Snoopy, Maya the Bee, Mickey Mouse, and the Smurfs. In 1977, Friedrich Schleich sold the company, which then passed through various ownerships, including HG Capital in 2006 and Ardian in 2014. In 2019, Swiss-based Partners Group acquired approximately 87% of Schleich. The company is headquartered in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany, and employs over 450 people as of 2022. Schleich's products are sold in over 60 countries, with production facilities in Germany, Portugal, Romania, Moldova, Vietnam, Tunisia, and China. The company offers a range of figurines and playsets, including themes like Wild Life, Farm World, Horse Club, Sofie's Beauties, Dinosaurs, Bayala, Eldrador Creatures, The Smurfs, and Harry Potter. In 2023, Schleich introduced figurines for the Harry Potter series. Despite challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, Schleich continued to increase its sales, with a reported revenue of 234 million euros in 2023.
