Petrol Industries is a prominent Dutch fashion brand founded in 1989 by Pedro van Zon. Originally starting as a specialist in belts, the brand has evolved into a comprehensive denim-centric lifestyle label. Its aesthetic is heavily influenced by 'motocentric' culture and American vintage workwear, which is reflected in its rugged and industrial design language. The brand is currently headquartered in an eco-friendly facility in Tilburg, Netherlands.
While the creative heart and design operations remain in the Netherlands, the physical manufacturing of Petrol Industries products is carried out across a global network of textile hubs, primarily in Asia (including China, Bangladesh, and Turkey), North Africa, and parts of Europe. This allows the brand to maintain its position in the mid-range fashion segment while scaling its international operations.
Ownership of the brand has seen significant transitions in recent years. In 2016, the private equity firm Vendis Capital acquired a majority stake to fuel international growth. Following this period of expansion, the brand was acquired in late 2023 by the Mentime Group (a development often formalized in corporate registries from 2024–2026). As of 2026, Petrol Industries continues to operate as a leading European label with a retail presence in over 20 countries.
