Cort Guitars, established in 1960 as Soo Doh Piano, transitioned to guitar manufacturing in 1973 and rebranded as Cort Musical Instruments in 1984. The company produces a wide range of instruments, including electric and acoustic guitars, basses, and ukuleles, with manufacturing facilities in South Korea, Indonesia, and China. Cort is renowned for crafting instruments for various brands, including Ibanez, Fender, and Paul Reed Smith. In 2015, Cort introduced the MBC-1 Matthew Bellamy Signature model, designed in collaboration with the lead guitarist of Muse. The company also owns DOD Electronics, a manufacturer of guitar effects pedals, acquired in 2022.
