It was originally launched in 1965 by Sollefteå Bryggeri (later part of Grängesbergs Bryggeri) under the name 'Norrlands Öl' before rebranded to Norrlands Guld in the 1970s. Today, the brand is owned and produced by Spendrups Bryggeri, a leading family-owned Swedish brewery. Spendrups acquired the brand in the 1980s as part of its expansion. Manufacturing takes place primarily at Spendrups' large-scale brewing facilities in Grängesberg, Sweden. While Spendrups remains a private Swedish company, Norrlands Guld stands as its flagship brand in the lager category, known for its mild taste and consistent quality across various alcohol strengths.
