Philadelphia, often colloquially known as Philly, is a famous brand of cream cheese. Although named after the city in Pennsylvania, it was actually invented in New York in 1872 by William Lawrence. The name was chosen because Philadelphia was known at the time for its high-quality dairy products.

Production of Philadelphia spread is widespread globally to accommodate regional markets. In Europe, a significant portion of the manufacturing is centered in Germany (Fallingbostel). In North America, the brand is owned and manufactured by Kraft Heinz, while in most other international markets, including Europe, the brand is owned and managed by Mondelēz International.
