Parisienne cigarettes

Parisienne is a prominent Swiss brand of cigarettes with a heritage dating back to 1887. It was originally launched by François-Joseph Burrus in Boncourt, Switzerland. For over a century, the brand remained a family-owned enterprise under the Burrus Group, establishing itself as a cultural icon in Switzerland through avant-garde marketing and artistic collaborations with world-renowned filmmakers.

In 1996, the brand was acquired by Rothmans International, which subsequently merged with British American Tobacco (BAT) in 1999. Today, Parisienne is a core brand within BAT's portfolio, specifically managed by its subsidiary, British American Tobacco Switzerland. While it is one of the most popular cigarette brands in Switzerland, it has limited international availability outside of neighboring countries like Germany and Austria.

Manufacturing historically took place at the iconic Boncourt factory in the canton of Jura. Although BAT announced plans to restructure its European manufacturing footprint, the brand's identity remains deeply tied to its Swiss origins, often marketed as the 'quintessential Swiss cigarette' compared to international competitors.
